Chivalry

Chivalry.... I hear this word and I think of a real man. I think of the times of the knights and kings. But is that what chivalry really is? No, Chivalry is so much more then that. Chivalry is a word that many seem to forget in the time we live in. A freind of mine reminded me of this and I will now give you my veiw on the word and life style of "Chivalry".

The word chivalry is a very powerful word and a word that few people still use. What is chivalry you may ask? Well, it can be something so simple as to opening a door for somone. Or simpley Pulling a lady's chair out for her to sit down. To me chivalry are acts of kindess that arent necessary. I would love to countinue on this subject another time but I have church so all I ask is to think about what I have just written and thank you for reading.
God bless, John

Chivalry is all about respect. Even the most vocal of feminists heart men who treat them with respect. Chivalry isn't dead, nor is it on retreat, it's thriving in the hearts of men like you.

After reading your post, I am so glad that chivalry is not dead! Chivalry is going above and beyond expected norms. Don't just hold the door open after you have gone through, but open it and wait for the other to go through before you.

One of the greatest examples of a genuinely chivalrous man is my father. One of the things that stands out in my mind is how he always opens the car door for my mother, every single time. This is going above and beyond the standard for men to open doors. Honestly, a man who opens my car door "gets major props" in my book. One of the greatest compliments which I can give a man is that he reminds me of my father.

Yet in truth, I often do not provide the opportunities for men to exercise their chivalry. I'd rather get out of the car than look really awkward sitting inside if he does not open the door. I will still even open my own door for restaurants and the like. Honestly, this sends the wrong message to the person that I am with because it almost says, "I don't need your help." Something for me to work on.

And further (I promise that this will be my last point), chivalry can not only be extended to women, but women can extend it to others, men and women alike, and men to other men. Chivalry should cross all borders.

Thank you John for this encouraging post!
